Prestigious Odisha Living Legend Award was conferred on Prof Amitav Acharya for his decades of work in challenging the western dominant approaches in the study of global affairs and in promoting Global South in International Relations. He received the award trophy and Living Legend citation from the Chief Guest Hon’ble Minister of Finance Shri Pradeep Kumar Amat and Guest of Honour legendary linguist Padmshri Shri Debi Prasanna Patnaik.
Amitav Acharya is currently (2016-17) the Boeing Company Chair in International Relations at the Schwarzman Scholars Program, Tsinghua University, Beijing. He is the Distinguished Professor of International Relations and the UNESCO Chair in Transnational Challenges and Governance at the School of International Service, American University, Washington, DC.
He has written extensively for leading journals and popular media and has been honored globally with Chairs and Visiting Professorships. For his contribution to Global IR he received Global South Caucus Distinguished Scholar Award in 2016 from the International Studies Association (ISA).

CALL FOR PAPERS
The Department of Economics, University Of The West Indies, Mona, is hosting the inaugural
West Indies Economic Conference (WECON) under the theme \Small Economies,
Unlimited Possibilities". The conference will be held at the UWI Regional Headquarters, Mona, Jamaica, March 9-10, 2017.
WECON invites papers on, but are not limited to, the following topics:
Economic Growth; Institutional Quality; Monetary Policy; Public Debt; Public Policy; Trade and Investment; Vulnerabilities; Education; Unemployment
Abstracts not exceeding 200 words should be submitted in electronic format to the following
address: The Coordinator, WECON 2017, Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, UWI, Mona Campus, Tel: 876-977-1188, Email: conference@wecon-mona.org
.
The submission deadline for abstracts is December 31, 2016. Authors of accepted papers
will be noti ed on or before January 6, 2017. The paper submission deadline is February
6, 2016.
Registration Fees:
International USD 100
Local and Caricom National USD 50 (or $6500 JA)
Student Free
The registration fee covers badge, conference accessories, co ee breaks, lunch and banquet. The
registration deadline is February 10, 2017.
