At the annual convention in Toronto (March 27-30), the following new officers were inaugurated:

Mariana Aparicio (UNAM -Mexico), Newsletter Editor
Samuel Oloruntoba (University of South Africa), Africa Representative
Cristine Koehler Zanella (UF-SBC, Brazil), Latin America Representative
Zaynab El Bernoussi (Al Akhawayn University, Morocco), Middle East representative
and Peter Marcus Kristensen (University of Copenhagen), North/South representative
Nassef Manabilang Obiong (Philippines) is serving his second year as Asian representative. Erica Resende (UF-Rio) is serving her second year as Treasurer.

Please send your news and photos to these new officers. The GSCIS plans to continue to develop its presence on social media as well as continue to maintain a limited presence on this blog.
The GSCIS sponsored 10 panels/sessions in Toronto, and secured the members' acceptance to many section panels. In conjunction with the Committee on Representation and Diversity as well as the ISA, the caucus held the first Intergenerational Cafe: Academic Strategies for and From the Global South. In addition, a special session was held entitled "Assessing the State of Knowledge on Global South IR and Foreign Policy: Special Roundtable Honoring the Contributions of Jacquie Braveboy-Wagner." This session was co-sponsored by the Committee on the Status of Engagement with the Global South as well as the ISA. It should be noted that the Committee on the Status of Engagement with the Global South grew out of the Task Force on the Global South established by former president T.V. Paul, one of the successful initiatives in which the GSCIS was well represented.
Going forward, plans are underway for a general review of the operations of the caucus and VC Jason Strakes is preparing a renewed Mission and Vision Statement for the caucus as it moves toward its ninth and tenth years.

ISA Honolulu Coming Up
The theme of ISA 2020, to be held March 25-28, is a very appropriate "Multiple Identities and Scholarship in a Global IR: One Profession, Many Voices." The Call for Proposals" is now available on the ISA website. The deadline for proposals is June 1st.
